Health and Wellbeing

A range of activities and classes attend to mind and body. Enjoy the company of friends on a bike ride or walk. Yoga, Tai Chi and our Mindfulness and Relaxation program support wellbeing. Our strength training classes are very popular.  Information on current dates and activity costs can be found in the Course Guide.

Bike Ride in Company - Monday

Enjoy riding with other bike enthusiasts on different rides each week. Mondays, 8.30am-1pm. Free with SHNC Membership.

Bike Ride - Women on Wheels on Wednesday

A group that supports women to regain bike riding confidence and skills in a supportive environment. Wednesdays, 9am-12pm. Free with SHNC Membership.

Tai Chi

Relax the body and focus the mind in gentle exercise. Suitable for all ages.

Warming up for Tai Chi

Sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 8.15–9am.

Walking Groups

Enjoy a medium paced walk around the neighbourhood in pleasant company. Stop for coffee on the way. Either Mondays, 9-10.30am or Fridays, 8.30-10am. Free with SHNC Membership.

Yoga Classes

Bring balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit through yoga postures and breathing techniques. Suited for all ages and abilities. (Hatha yoga) Mondays, 6.45-7.45pm.   Wednesdays, 5.45-6.45pm or 7-8pm.

Strength Training

Conducted by YMCA experienced instructors. This class exercises core muscles using weights, dumbbells etc and is suitable for people of all ages. (Medical clearance required before starting class).Sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays, 8.15-9.15am, or Tuesdays/Thursdays, 12.30-1.30pm, 6-7pm or 7.15-8.15pm.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Enhance your wellbeing and your ability to cope with everyday pressures. Thursdays, 7-8pm.

Qi Gong

Gently heal your body, improve clarity of mind and enhance your creative spirit. Suitable for all ages and physical abilities. Wednesdays, 10-11.15am. .

Line Dancing

Get those boots a-scootin with our new Line Dancing classes. Have fun while getting fit. Mondays, 5.30-6.30pm. Casual classes available with SHNC Membership. 

Zumba

Get fit with these fun, Latin dance inspired, classes for people of all ages and abilities. Mondays, 6.45-7.45pm.  Casual classes available with SHNC membership,.

Zumba GOLD

A great fitness class for beginners, seniors and Mums-to-be. Wednesdays, 1.30-2:30pm. Casual classes available with SHNC membership.
